In the lessons we got task to express our opinion and choose some particular issue related forestry and agriculture. To be honest, I am not pretty sure what I wanna talking about. There is a lot of problems in our planet, and even difficult issues which we can not see. Some kind of species live in the area where the life will be unable due to climate change. Scientists released a list of the 100 most threatened species in the world, which are likely to go extinct if immediate actions are not taken. The list was released in a presentation at the World Conservation Congress in Jeju, South Korea, and compiled by more than 8,000 scientists affiliated with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. The 100 most threatened species, from 48 different countries, will be first in line to disappear completely if nothing is done to protect them. However who cares about this damn situation. While nobody will see that situation on our planet is really poor, than we will face a big lost.
One of the threatened species one the list is the pygmy three-toed sloth, which exists only on Escudo Island. Another animal on the list includes the saola, one of the most threatened mammals in Southeast Asia. Known as the “Asian unicorn” because of its rarity, populations of these antelope may be down to a few tens of individuals today. But species can be saved if actions are taken. Examples include Przewalski’s horse and humpback whales, which have been kept around due to aggressive action, according to therelease.
As I often go to visit my boyfriend to Boston that is located in New England I am pretty interested about the species and nature in this area. Around us where we live, you can find 4 big reservation where live endangered, threatened, special concern species and plants. If I make comparison between nature in New England and in Slovakia, I would say, there is a big difference but not too much. You don’t have to go far away from Boston and you find region quite similar to us. It is called Vermont.

Boston as a major fishing and hunting kingdom has a numerous kind of fish. Therefor is it reasonable that they will have more restriction, laws and regulations by the state. One of these is Massachusetts Commercial Fishing Permits which talking about fishing on your own purpose. All persons who land and sell finfish, shellfish, lobsters, edible crabs or other living marine resources in Massachusetts must have a commercial fishing permit from the Division of Marine Fisheriesand must sell only to permitted Massachusetts dealers. Commercial permits may be endorsed for access to the many regulated fisheries. Regulated fisheries include most gear types, and species that are restricted by quota.
I wish writing more about this region and nature. However I couldn’t, cause my main point of view should to be about some issue in the world. I wanted to start with something what evoke in you feelings how the nature is beautiful and miscellaneous. In the rest of my block I will focus on issue which thefood policy has to face today. It is not food safety. These issue led to the disruption in relationship between European union and US. It is the so called the bone of contention in negotiation. The transatlantic trade investment partnership between US and EU should be adopt, however there are some crucial points for which these agreement is still postpone. Let’s talking about GMO. Because just this fact stand behind misunderstanding of all of the world. As a person who was in US more times, and wanna live and study there, I can say something about this food. However, I am also person, who really love cooking and backing and the most of my time what I am in Boston I cook for my boyfriend and sure, I usually use this GMO food. Do you know what GMO is ? Food and feed generally originates from plants and animals grown and bred by humans for several thousand years. Over time, those plants and animals with the most desirable characteristics were chosen for breeding the next generations of food and feed. This was, for example, the case for plants with an increased resistance to environmental pressures such as diseases or with an increased yield. These desirable characteristics appeared through naturally occurring variations in the genetic make-up of those plants and animals. In recent times, it has become possible to modify the genetic make-up of living organisms using techniques of modern biotechnology called gene technology. The genetic material is modified artificially to give it a new property. Such organisms are called “genetically modified organisms” (GMOs). Food and feed which contain or consist of such GMOs, or are produced from GMOs, are called “genetically modified (GM) food or feed”. According to these definition you can imagine whats going on by the GMO. Perhaps now you can imagine that when you eat GMO food you eat whit them a lot of chemicals, artificial ingredients and so on. Layman could say, I don’t want to eat that anymore(even they never eat it, cause EU has permission against it) , because it has bad harm to my body. It destroys organisms in my body. On the other hand, do you think that people who live in America or anywhere you can find GMO and eat these GMO are killed by eating them? America provides GMO many, many years and people are still alive. I do not want to say that I prefer GMO, or that GMO are healthy and better for us than that organic foods. In Americas supermarkets you can find the section where they sell organic food, for example fruits, vegetables, coconut oil and many others. These foods are not made like GMO food. Is organic like when you buy something in markets or when you grow something in your own garden around whole Europe. Is evident truth that they are more expensive like GMO food in America. The key problem is, that you don’t see on them that they are GMO. There is any label on it. I can provide some information about labelling GMO food in America. The issue continues to cast a large shadow over the food and beverage industry. For consumers, GMOs have become a potent symbol of problems plaguing America’s food system. Regardless of how informed and accurate consumers’ understandings of GMOs are, general public sentiment toward the topic reflects a deepening mistrust of food companies and government institutions. Interest around the topic of GMOs continues to grow as does concern about a lack of transparent communication. Food and beverage companies that stay quiet on the issue risk losing their place in the conversation, not to mention facing the risk of losing consumer trust . Food retailers, restaurants and the media are leading the way in developing a compelling narrative around the GMO issue. Lack of communication on GMOs only feeds public suspicions. Food retailers and other food companies can step in and help consumers make better-informed decisions about the topic. This doesn’t necessarily mean taking a stand on labeling or pesticides or any other aspect of the GMO debate, but simply meeting customers where they are at the moment and using information to both allay their confusion as well as maintain their trust. Each kind of food should be label. This label should provide information to consumer about country from where is the product, each of items what participate on production, date to good to be used, address of the company and so on. I think our environment face to hard conditions. They want to reach to each consumer was pretty acquainted about what he buys and they want to eschew inaccurate information. Is this system better? Sure, that is it. Today information are really important even in market. I am glad, that I can know what I am buying and on this basis I could prefer some brand than the other. And in my opinion this is reason why some companies in Am
erica are afraid of labelling their products. They can use inappropriate ingredients, which are probably more cheaper and put them on the production. They can loose their ordinary customers, loose profits and close down their factory. Everything is about money
